High School Choir

        High School Concert Choir
Mrs.Donna Halliwell
Class requirements:
1.  Present for class rehearsals
2.  Performance in class (singing out and engaged in music, folder with music out)
3.  Vocal testing (individual and group) to demonstrate knowledge of music
4.  Attend evening rehearsals (one for Winter Concert, one for Spring Concert)
5.  Attend performances (Winter and Spring Concerts and graduation)

Attendance at evening rehearsals and concerts are reflected in student grades. Unexcused absences will affect grades.  Students who come late to rehearsals or concerts, or leave early will not receive credit for attending.

Winter Concert Mandatory Evening Rehearsal:
Mon. Dec. 11 or Tues Dec. 12, 2018  (yet to be determined) Time TBA

Winter Concert:
Thurs. Dec. 13, 2018 at 7:30 p.m.

Spring Concert Mandatory Evening Rehearsal:

Mon. April 8 or Tues April 9, 2019 (yet to be determined) Time TBA

Spring Concert:
Wed. April 10, 2019 at 8:00 p.m.

Choir at Graduation:
Friday June 21. Time TBA. Students must stay for entire ceremony (usually 1 hour).

Note:  Dates for concerts are also on the district calendar.  Evening rehearsals will be announced. All information will be emailed to parent/guardian. If dates must be changed due to weather, or administrative decision, students MUST attend. Attendance at rehearsals/concerts/graduation is mandatory (no late arrival/no leaving early) and reflected in student grade.
Please email me if you do not receive information regarding Concert Choir by October, so that I can put your correct email on the distribution list.

Concert Dress for Concerts:
Girls: Long black skirt provided by school, white dress blouse, black dress shoes       
                Boys:  Black dress pants, white button down shirt, dark tie, black dress shoes

Supplemental Assignment:
Watch the following video and answer the questions in complete sentences.  Make sure you are clearly answering each entire question.
My Voice Is Weak
1. Describe what a 'breathy" sound is, and why it happens (physically)
2. Is breathiness bad? Why or why not?
3.  Do you want to sound "pretty" why you sing? Why or why not?
4. How can someone correct "breathiness"? Include exercises you can do to correct "breathiness".
