Dear Midland Park Community,
At last night’s Board of Education meeting, we provided a brief update on the progress of our turf field installation. While construction is ongoing, the project completion date has been adjusted from the first week of September to September 18th. We understand that any delay isn't ideal, and we are actively working with our contractor to ensure the project is completed as swiftly as possible. We've already made adjustments to our athletic schedules to accommodate this minor delay. These adjustments will ensure our student-athletes play their full schedule of home soccer games. Additionally, we're excited to confirm that the project remains on track for us to host a home football game and our annual marching band competition, "Music in the Park." We appreciate everyone's patience and flexibility as we work to finalize this fantastic new facility.
We also want to remind our community that the track and field are temporarily closed during construction to ensure the safety of all residents. For everyone's well-being, please refrain from touching or climbing on construction vehicles and equipment, as this presents significant safety concerns.
Finally, we want to reiterate that this field renovation has no impact on your property taxes. The completion of the turf installation and stadium lights has been a long-standing goal for our district, and it is being funded by capital reserve funds specifically allocated for maintaining and enhancing our facilities. This project does not affect our ability to fund academic and extracurricular programs, hire personnel, or purchase other school resources, as these funds are legally designated solely for capital projects. Once completed, we are confident that all our students and community members will enjoy the benefits of a modern, first-class facility for school and community athletic events and activities. We believe this investment will serve our community for years to come.
As noted in the initial letter at the start of construction, we will continue to provide periodic updates until construction is completed.
Sincerely,
Kevin Ulmer
Superintendent
