It was a memorable week for Midland Park athletics, as two Panthers were recognized for their standout performances during the week of September 7–13.
Kobie James – NJIC Goalkeeper of the Week
Junior goalkeeper Kobie James was named NJIC Goalkeeper of the Week after anchoring Midland Park’s strong start to the season. In a 4-0 victory over McNair, James made two saves to record his first shutout of the year. He then turned in a career-best performance with 12 saves in a 3-2 win over Secaucus, keeping the Panthers in control throughout. His steady presence in net has been a major factor in Midland Park’s 2-0 start.
Ava Romano – NorthJersey.com Volleyball Player of the Week
On the volleyball court, sophomore setter Ava Romano was voted NorthJersey.com Girls Volleyball Player of the Week following four days of fan balloting. Romano guided the Panthers to a 2-0 opening week, tallying 32 assists and four aces, along with her first career kill in a win over Mary Help. Her playmaking ability and leadership were key in Midland Park’s early-season success and earned her recognition over a strong slate of nominees.
These honors capped off a strong week for Midland Park athletics, highlighting the talent and dedication fueling the Panthers’ fall season.
