Midland Park sophomore Alessia Vitetta has been recognized as the North Jersey Interscholastic Conference (NJIC) Girls Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for her standout play during the week of September 15–21.
Vitetta anchors a Panther defense that has been one of the toughest in the conference to score against. Through the first seven games of the season, Midland Park has recorded six shutouts and surrendered just two total goals. Beyond her strong defensive work, Vitetta has also provided an offensive spark, registering two goals and an assist on the year. Last week, she contributed a goal and an assist in a victory over Weehawken.
Her ability to shut down opposing attacks while also creating opportunities going forward has made her an all-around impact player for the Panthers, who continue to establish themselves as one of the top defensive squads in the conference.
