The first Framework for the Future session was designed to be a highly interactive and collaborative experience focused on shaping the goals for Midland Park Public Schools. Participants were encouraged to share their ideas and experiences documenting their perspectives, hopes, concerns, successes, and challenges in an effort to begin prioritizing future goals for the district. The first activity involved "Examining Perspectives" through two lenses: identifying aspects of Midland Park Schools that should never change ("Home Sweet Home") and suggesting improvements seen in other districts ("The Grass is Greener"). The session also involved working together to create a list of the Top 10 skills students need for the future. Finally, participants were asked to complete an Exit Ticket to articulate the most important thing they want their child to be, be able to do, and understand by the end of their school experience.

Participants were reminded that every student and parent experience is different. Attendees were also reminded not to over-personalize comments, as the ultimate goal is to best serve all students. We thank our participants for thinking objectively, respecting others' opinions, being willing to agree to disagree, and acknowledging that meaningful change takes time.

After further analysis of the night’s work, additional notes and common themes and perspectives will be shared and serve as the foundation for discussion at our next Framework for the Future Meeting in January.
