Midland Park senior Seth Sverdlov capped off an outstanding high school career by winning the NJSIAA State Individual Championship in boys epee, establishing himself as one of the top fencers in New Jersey.

Sverdlov delivered a strong and steady performance from start to finish. He opened the tournament by going undefeated in his first round of pool bouts and followed it up with another impressive showing in the second round to advance comfortably into the final group.

In the championship round, Sverdlov showed his resilience. After suffering a tough early loss, he regrouped and won the remainder of his bouts, separating himself from the field and securing the overall title. His ability to stay composed, make adjustments, and finish strong proved to be the difference in a highly competitive field.

In addition to his state championship, Sverdlov has been selected First Team All-County by the Bergen County Coaches Association (BCCA), recognizing his outstanding performance throughout the season.

He will be honored at the BCCA Winter Sports All-County Dinner on Thursday, March 26th at 6:00 PM at The Fiesta in Hasbrouck Heights, where Bergen County’s top winter student-athletes will be celebrated.

Sverdlov’s progression throughout his career and his ability to perform on the biggest stage highlight the dedication and commitment he has brought to the sport. Midland Park proudly congratulates Seth on an incredible senior season and this remarkable achievement.
