The Midland Park Panthers put together an outstanding performance at the North 1 Group 1 State Sectional Championships, highlighted by three individual sectional champions and multiple athletes earning spots at the upcoming Group Championships.
Leading the way was Riley Butler, who captured the North 1 Group 1 State Sectional Championship in Shot Put and secured her place at Groups.
Jacob Junta delivered a tremendous performance, winning the North 1 Group 1 State Sectional Championship in High Jump while tying the Midland Park school record with a jump of 6'4". Jacob also added a fifth place finish in Javelin and qualified for the Group Championships in both events.
Freshman Brooklyn Hollens continued her impressive season by capturing the North 1 Group 1 State Sectional Championship in Triple Jump. Her title gave Midland Park its third individual sectional championship of the meet and earned her a trip to the Group Championships in an outstanding freshman campaign.
Cienna Thimme also had a strong postseason performance, placing sixth in Pole Vault and third in Javelin while qualifying for the Group Championships in both events.
Eric Labastille earned a fifth place finish in the 110m High Hurdles and also secured a spot at the Group Championships.
The Panthers finished the meet with three North 1 Group 1 individual sectional champions and several athletes advancing as Midland Park continues an impressive postseason run.
The Group Championships will take place on May 29 and May 30 at Franklin High School.
