The Midland Park Panthers are one win away from a sectional championship.
Following their semifinal victory over Pompton Lakes, the Panthers have earned a spot in the North 1 Group 1 State Sectional Championship game. The appearance marks a significant milestone for a program that has put together one of the most successful seasons in school history.
Throughout the season, Midland Park has relied on a combination of strong pitching, timely hitting, solid defense, and a team-first mentality. Those qualities were once again on display in the semifinal round as the Panthers battled their way into the championship game.
Freshman sensation Alexis Reyes has been a driving force behind the Panthers' remarkable season. Following Midland Park's semifinal victory, Reyes reflected on what makes this team and this postseason run so special.
"I’ve played with all these girls since I was younger, since we were playing T-ball together," Reyes told NJ.com. "I feel like it just means more coming from such a small community. I made the right decision choosing Midland Park."
Reyes' comments highlight the close-knit bond that has fueled Midland Park throughout its historic season and helped the Panthers reach heights that few expected at the start of the year.
Now, Midland Park has an opportunity to add another chapter to an already memorable season when they take the field for the North 1 Group 1 State Sectional Championship on Thursday, June 4.
The Panthers will host the championship game at Midland Park High School with first pitch scheduled for 1:00 PM.
We encourage all students, staff, families, alumni, and community members to come out and support the Panthers as they compete for a sectional title on their home field. Let's pack the stands and show our Panther pride as Midland Park looks to bring home a championship.
