Midland Park student-athletes have been making headlines throughout the fall season, with five Panthers earning Player of the Week honors and nominations from NJ.com, NorthJersey.com, and the North Jersey Interscholastic Conference (NJIC). Their individual accomplishments have contributed to an exciting start to the 2026 fall athletic season.

The Waldwick/Midland Park football team is off to an impressive 5-1 start and prepares to face Rutherford in a matchup with the league championship on the line. Meanwhile, the Midland Park boys soccer team has been equally impressive, posting a perfect 11-0 record and sitting atop the NJIC American Division standings.

Football Standouts Lead the Way

Junior running back Luciano Mayer has been a major contributor to the Waldwick/Midland Park Warriors' success, rushing for an impressive 961 yards and 14 touchdowns this season. Mayer was selected as the Alliance Orthopedics NJIC Offensive Player of the Week and has received multiple nominations for NorthJersey.com's Football Player of the Week.

Among his standout performances were 216 rushing yards and two touchdowns against Glen Rock, 189 yards and four touchdowns against Elmwood Park, and 153 yards and three touchdowns against Cresskill/Emerson. His consistent production has helped power the Warriors' offense throughout the season.

Joining Mayer in the spotlight is sophomore quarterback Will Dell'Aglio, who earned two major honors following his first varsity start. Dell'Aglio was named both the NJ.com Offensive Player of the Week and the Alliance Orthopedics NJIC Offensive Player of the Week after leading the Warriors to a thrilling 49-41 victory over Vernon.

In that game, Dell'Aglio accounted for 337 total yards and four touchdowns, including 295 passing yards and 42 rushing yards. His performance helped the Warriors open the season with a victory and immediately earned him recognition across North Jersey.

With a 5-1 record, the Warriors now prepare to take on Rutherford in an important matchup that will determine the league championship.

Undefeated Boys Soccer Team Earns Recognition

The Midland Park boys soccer team has put together an outstanding season, currently standing at 11-0 and in first place in the NJIC American Division. Along the way, two Panthers have earned NJ.com NJIC Boys Soccer Player of the Week honors for their contributions.

Junior midfielder Caden McIlveen was selected as an NJ.com NJIC Boys Soccer Player of the Week following an impressive offensive stretch that included four goals and two assists, highlighted by the first hat trick of his high school career. His performances helped Midland Park improve to 3-0 with divisional victories over Paterson Charter and Eastern Christian.

Fellow junior Evan Salge also earned NJ.com NJIC Boys Soccer Player of the Week recognition after helping the Panthers secure two important victories. Salge played a key role in Midland Park's 3-0 shutout of Hawthorne before scoring two crucial goals, including the game-winner, against Saddle River Day.

Both student-athletes have been important contributors to a Panthers team that continues to build momentum as the season progresses. Their individual recognition reflects the overall success of a boys soccer program that remains undefeated and atop its division.

Mezak Shines for Girls Soccer

Sophomore midfielder Molly Mezak has also earned recognition for her outstanding offensive performances this fall. Mezak was nominated for NJ.com NJIC Girls Soccer Player of the Week following a remarkable five-goal performance in Midland Park's 6-0 victory over Butler.

Even more impressive, it was the second time this season that Mezak scored five goals in a single game. Her scoring ability has made her a key contributor to the Panthers' girls soccer program and earned her well-deserved recognition throughout the area.

Panther Pride on Display

The accomplishments of Mayer, Dell'Aglio, McIlveen, Salge, and Mezak reflect the talent, dedication, and hard work of Midland Park's student-athletes. Whether earning individual Player of the Week honors, receiving nominations, or helping their teams compete for championships, these Panthers continue to make their mark across North Jersey.

With plenty of the fall season still ahead, Midland Park Athletics looks forward to continued success both individually and as a team.
