Midland Park Elementary PTA

September 2017

Dear Parents,

On behalf of the Midland Park Elementary PTA (MPEPTA), welcome back to another school year!  We hope your summer was full of exciting, relaxing & family centered fun!  This parent packet is full of PTA related information. Please take time to review it—we hope you find it resourceful & helpful as you get acquainted with all that is being planned this year.

“Oh the place we’ll go” together this year….this is our theme for the 2017-2018 school year.  Who doesn’t love a little Dr. Seuss inspiration to guide us this year?!  The PTA is a joint effort between parents,  teachers & school staff to enrich the school experience for the students, the teachers, staff & parents.  As we join forces to make the many planned experiences, events, activities & resources possible, we can take the MPEPTA to even greater places.  Just
imagine what we can do!  The opportunities are endless.  So let’s GO….TOGETHER!
*be sure to look for our logo on all PTA related communications this year

In order to stay connected with the MPEPTA this year, we encourage to open & read the weekly eblast newsletter that is sent  out at 9am every Monday morning during the school year.  Here you will find the most up to date information on all things MPEPTA related!  In addition, be sure to join our FB page & sign up for text messaging (all sign up
information for these communications is located further in this packet).  There is also a MPEPTA website located on the Highland & Godwin school websites under “Organizations”.  There is an online school directory you can locate at www.pt-avenue.com as well as an additional resource.

Last year, we had a very successful year with various events, fundraisers & activities.  This couldn’t have been possible without all the support you gave to the MPEPTA.  Whether you volunteered, donated or came to events, you helped contribute to the MPEPTA.  This year there are many exciting things planned & we hope we can count on you to
continue to support the many efforts of the PTA.  Some ways you can help immediately is to join the MPEPTA (by being a member, you are stating that you support the MPEPTA—and you will get a MPEPTA family directory too!),
volunteer to help in some way—whether something big or small, all volunteers are TRULY APPRECIATED, share your talents...by being involved you will not only help enhance your child’s school experience, but you will be rewarded too!  The PTA is a great way to get involved, meet new friends, see your child’s school in a new way & be connected to all things MP!  You’ll be SO happy you did!  In the “RETURN TO SCHOOL” packet, you will find a volunteer form.  Please consider filling it out & join a committee.  You can also find the form online in the weekly eblast to sign up online.

Finally, the MPEPTA will hold 3 General Meetings this year.  September 25th (7:30pm), January 22nd (7:30pm) &
May 22nd
(3:00pm).  All meetings will be held in the Highland Media Center.  We encourage you to attend these meetings to stay informed about the schools and topics of interest in your child’s education.  At our first meeting, the Principals will be presenting on how to use Google Documents!  It will be a good tutorial for all parents!  You will also get to see all the exciting things we have planned for this year.  The executive board & committee chairs will be on hand to answer any questions you may have as well.  You don’t want to miss it!

This year, each student in grades Pre-K-1 will be provided with a special school folder & 2nd-6th graders will be
provided with school planners all courtesy of the MPEPTA.  Once again, the Executive Board & I thank you for your support this year.  Remember, the places we can go this year...together!  Thank you for coming along for the ride!

Sincerely,
Kerri
