7th Grade Exploratory Art

WELCOME TO 7th GRADE EXPLORATORY ART
This 10-week course will help students explore the multidimensional landscape of art. Students will study drawings of still lives, self‐portraits, landscapes and abstractions.  Students will also draw their own original art works in the genres discussed in class.

Students will complete 5-7 art projects during this course.  Each project explores a different medium (art material) and are approximately one week long.  Both visual and written directions will be given for every assignment. All projects must be handed in within 3 days of their due date.

Grades for each project will be posted on Power School within a week of being handed in.  Grades will be lowered for excessively late work. You are NOT graded on your talent or art experience!

DRAWING ASSIGNMENTS

In addition to your large art projects, you have 3 smaller drawings due at the end of the cycle.  These drawings are meant to take approximately 1 class period. They should be worked on when you finish projects early and anytime there is a substitute.  Drawing assignments may also be worked on at home.

On the bulletin boards and cabinets at the front of the room, you will see several examples of drawing assignments.  When you are ready to begin one, go up to the board and choose which assignment you’d like to do. The directions for each assignment are printed below the examples.  You DO NOT have to copy the example, they are meant to give you an idea of what is expected.
