Middle School Clubs

The following Clubs/Activities are available for Middle School students, grades 7 and 8. Please see descriptions for information on what the student will do as members of the club. To sign up a student should contact the advisor listed below.

The middle school advisors assist with the 7th and 8th grade class elections. Each class elects a president, vice president, secretary, and treasurer. The advisors and class officers meet on a monthly basis to discuss upcoming events such as dances and fundraising activities. The advisors assist the 8th grade parents with the planning of the Eighth Grade Celebration.

Brain Busters

Brain Busters is a quiz bowl competition that uses a lock-out buzzer system for 7th and 8th grade students. It is open to anyone interested in competing. Competition questions are about all subjects and current events. Meetings will be held during/after school to practice. The team meets once per month per division, during the school day. Each school hosts a monthly “practice” competition. The final competition is held at Bergen Community College in the spring.

React and Interact

Interact and React Club is Rotary International’s service club for young people ages 12 to 18. The Interact and React clubs are sponsored by Midland Park/Wyckoff Rotary club, which provide support and guidance, but the clubs are self-governing and self-supporting.

Each year, Interact and React clubs complete many community service projects, and participates in many of the town events such as Midland Park Day, tree lighting and town parade. Students run two large community service projects: a fashion show and a car show to raise funds to donate to a local cause, the Gift of Life Program or St. Jude’s Hospital.

The Interact and React club develops student leadership skills, personal integrity, respect for others, and teach the value of community and helping others

Computer Club

The purpose of the Computer Club is to provide an atmosphere in which students who are interested in computers and computer gaming can share their ideas, knowledge and proficiency with students. This club will increase student involvement with STEM and build strong interests in related fields.

Intramurals

Middle school intramural sports are an exciting and inclusive way for students to engage in physical activity, develop teamwork, and have fun right within the school setting. These programs are designed to cater to a wide range of interests and skill levels, making them an ideal avenue for students to explore their athletic abilities and build lifelong connections with their peers. Which is held zero period twice a week open to 7th and 8th grade students.

Students write articles on the local and national events form the middle school perspective. We have four (4) issues per year and meet to discuss topics before each issue. Students then work individually with the teacher to get the article out.

Science Club

The 7/8th grade Science Club discuss the concepts and basic principles of the different sciences and how they relate to the environment around the student. The students perform a short experiment reinforcing the concept reviewed during the meeting.
